Gait and balance dysfunction are 2 of the most common issues treated in rehabilitation across the continuum of care. Dysfunction in gait and balance increases fall risk, increases risk for future hospitalization, and can greatly reduce activity and participation on our patients. This course will provide practical, applicable strategies for accurately diagnosing and treating these disorders across the continuum of care and within a variety of the most common diagnoses. 8CCUs

At the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to:

• Describe the impact of gait and balance dysfunction on patient’s activity and participation
• Differentiate the major causes of gait and balance dysfunction in our patients across the continuum of care
• Identify and demonstrate appropriate examination and evaluation techniques for assessing gait and balance across the continuum in the most common patient populations
• Identify appropriate gait and balance outcome measures for utilization across the continuum of care
• Appraise the evidence on interventions to address gait and balance dysfunction
• Develop appropriate strategies and treatment plans to address gait and balance dysfunction in patients across the continuum of care
