Monday, June 14, 2021, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM CDT
Category: District Meetings

The COVID-19 pandemic has been widespread in all populations from which physical therapists receive referrals for treatment. Physical therapists must be prepared to recognize and treat post-COVID sequelae whether the symptoms present directly from a known COVID infection or as a remote association with prior symptomatic or asymptomatic presentation of the disease. 1.5 CCUs

At the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to:

1. Describe basic pathophysiology of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and COVID-19 illness;
2. Describe body systems affected by COVID-19 infection;
3. Design a thorough subjective and physical examination incorporating the variation in possible post-COVID syndrome presentations;
4. Demonstrate ongoing assessment of vital signs and tracking of symptoms during examination of the COVID-19 survivor;
5. Identify signs of activity and exercise intolerance that may be a prognostic indicator of a prolonged recovery;
6. Rank the top 3 most impactful post-COVID functional limitations identified in your examination;
7. Design a prioritized PT intervention plan to address the 3 primary post-COVID related activity and/or participation limitations.
