The purpose and goal of this course is designed to effectively assess squat and deadlift movement dysfunctions and apply effective manual therapy techniques to correct dysfunctional movement patterns in order to make a significant impact on patients' functional movement, performance, and overall well-being. 1.25 CCUs
At the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to:
1. Assess proper squat and deadlift movement patterns; 2. Identify differences between functional and dysfunctional squat and deadlift movement patterns; 3. Identify normal joint osteokinematics and arthrokinematics of joints associated with squat and deadlift movement patterns; 4. Appropriately apply joint mobilization techniques to correct dysfunctional movement patterns.
Speaker(s) Dr. Jose I. Suarez, PT, DPT is the founder and lead Physical Therapist of Moveo Performance LLC. Dr. Suarez graduated from UT-Pan American with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in 2013. He went on to graduate from UT Health San Antonio with a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) in 2017. After graduating Dr. Suarez practiced physical therapy in San Antonio, Texas while completing his clinical residency and fellowship training. In doing so, Dr. Suarez achieved the recognition of Board-Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. Furthermore, upon successful completion of his fellowship training Dr. Suarez was awarded Fellow status by the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT). With a specialization in sports performance and orthopedics, Dr. Suarez brings an eclectic approach to his practice that resonates throughout his clinic. His unwavering focus on optimizing athletic capabilities is evident in his emphasis on global movement patterns and functional mobility as core components of his treatment philosophy.
