This course is designed for physi cal therapists, therapist assistants as well as PT and PTA students to prov ide information to improve power clean mechanics in order to reduce risk of injury with sport activities. This course will break down the movements re quired for a proper power clean as well as outline biomechanical deficits a t different joints and then discuss exercises to improve mobility and stren gth in order to improve technique and minimize risk of injury for athletes and recreational lifters. 1CCU
At the conclusion of the course, participants will
be able to:
1. Be a
ble to identify what proper form would look like for a squat, deadlift as w
ell as power clean;
2. Participants will be able to identify common co
mpensations as well as break down in technique to allow for specific treatm
ents for improved mechanics;
3. The course will review anatomy at spec
ific joints in how it relates to movement patterns;
4. Participants wi
ll gain knowledge for how specific deficits in joint mobility, muscular imb
alances/hypertonicity and weakness effect power clean technique and perform
ance;
5. Individuals taking the course will review exercises to help i
mprove deficits at different joints to allow for improved mechanics.

strong>Sara Reilly is a Doctor of Physical Therapy at DHR Orthoped
ic Sports Therapy Institute. Both her Masters in Exercise Physiology and do
ctorate of Physical Therapy were achieved at the University of Mary Hardin-
Baylor. During her masters she worked in The Human Performance Lab conducti
ng supplement, training techniques, and nutritional studies to help improve
performance athletes. She currently has 11 publications in the human perfo
rmance and Supplement and sport nutrition fields, as well as given 6 presen
tations at National and International conferences. Currently she is the Lea
d Sports Physical therapist at OSTI and specializes in orthopedic therapy w
ith subspecialty in sport rehabilitation.
Irving Alday<
/strong> is a duo licensed and board-certified Doctor of Physical Therapy a
nd Athletic Trainer. He received his bachelor’s in athletic training from t
he University of Texas in Austin and received his Doctor of Physical Therap
y at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. During his doctor
ate program he provided sports medicine coverage for multiple sports at Bal
l High School in Galveston and the junior hockey club team Houston Wild age
s 10-18 years old. He also worked as a student research assistant for the C
adaver-Oriented Anatomy Online Course Project through the UTMB Department o
f Physical Therapy. Currently he is a Physical Therapist under the sports t
eam at DHR Orthopedic Sports Therapy Institute (OSTI) developing his career
in specializing in both orthopedic and sports therapy rehabilitation.
Armando Blancas is a Physical Therapist Assistant
and Therapy Supervisor at DHR Orthopedic Sports Therapy Institute. Armando
graduated from South Texas College in 2007. He has 15 years experience in o
rthopedics while mainly working with athletes from middle school level to p
rofessional level. Armando is an expert in treating ACL reconstruction and
has treated more than 1,000 patients in the last 15 years. He is currently
in progress of becoming an Exos Performance Specialist..
