None of us were prepared to manage during a pandemic and none of us have lived through a p andemic, until now. Work, school, travel, and leaving the home have all bee n disrupted, which has caused tremendous stress and uncertainty. Given the novelty of the situation, and the tendency to care for others as a priority over self-care, our patients, families, and colleagues will benefit from p hysical therapists learning and practicing strategies to engage in self-car e. 1CCU

Dr. Janet R. Bezner is a Professor in the Departm
ent of Physical Therapy at Texas State University. In addition to teaching
courses on health promotion and wellness, she is one of the leaders of the
employee wellness program at Texas State, providing health coaching service
s and programming for employees. She is a National Board Certified Health &
amp; Wellness Coach.
