Ron Short, PT, MBA, FACHE has served as Chief Operating Officer at Care Systems, a leading provider of advanced workforce management solutions, since February 2018. Before joining Care Systems, Mr. Short worked for over twenty years in a variety of clinical and executive roles to improve efficiency and enhance the delivery of care in the inpatient rehabilitation program, Emergency Department, Cath Lab, Surgery, inpatient nursing units, and outpatient areas at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview, Texas. He led the development of the Neurological Institute, the Institute for Robotic & Minimally Invasive Surgery, the Bariatric Surgery & Metabolic Medicine program, and has become an accomplished servant leader. Mr. Short speaks nationally on topics including patient throughput improvement, use of technology to enhance clinical care, and leading change. His newest leadership passion is helping clinicians and leaders have more effective relationships with their patients and physicians through respect, value and understanding. Dr. Shannon Bowling completed her initial physical therapy training at Duke University and obtained a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Texas Woman’s University.  She has practiced as a physical therapist for 25 years, working across multiple states, hospital systems, and settings.  Dr. Bowling is a Board-certified Clinical Specialist in Geriatric Physical Therapy and currently serves as a Professional Development Specialist supporting Therapy Services at UT Southwestern in Dallas, Texas.

Nydia is Doctor of Physical Therapy and an experienced yoga educator and international presenter on Therapeutic Yoga practices.  She developed the Therapeutic Astanga Method™ (TAM™) over the course of 39 years and is the Owner & Director of Nydia’s Yoga Therapy Studio and Director of Therapeutics at the Open Hand Institute in San Antonio, Texas. Nydia is adjunct professor at St. Mary’s University in SA, Texas.  She developed and implemented the curriculum for two 3 hour credit courses offered within the Exercise Sports Science Department:  “Living Yoga” and “Yoga for Healthcare & Fitness Professionals”. Myles Quiben, PT, PhD, DPT, MS, a board-certified clinical specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties in Neurologic and Geriatric Physical Therapy, is Associate Professor and Interim Chair at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, and a clinician at the Baylor Institute of Rehabilitation in Fort Worth, TX with a primary geriatric and neurologic population. Interprofessional collaboration is woven into her practice and teaching in cardiopulmonary, geriatrics, neurology, and clinical medicine. Research interests in geriatric syndromes and frailty, movement analysis, neurologic examination, interprofessional education, and simulation. She is a TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer, an Advanced Comprehensive Simulation Instructor though the Center for Medical Simulation and is active in ACAPT as a Director of the National Interprofessional Education Consortium and in the Panel on Simulation. She has presented nationally and internationally on movement, exercise, aging, and interprofessional education. Kenneth L Miller, PT, DPT, is a board-certified geriatric specialist, certified exercise expert for aging adults and credentialed clinical instructor from APTA. He has over 22 years of clinical practice with the older adult population. Dr. Miller is an assistant professor at the University of North Texas Health Science Center serving in the department of physical therapy. His clinical focus is on best practices and optimal care of the pre-frail and frail populations. He is an international and national speaker presenting topics related to gerontology in Australia and across the United States at national level conferences including the combined sections meeting and NEXT conferences of the American Physical Therapy Association. He has multiple peer-reviewed publications on clinical pharmacology and has recently been a guest editor for the Topics in Geriatric Rehabilitation peer-reviewed journal issue focusing on medications and nutrition. He serves the physical therapy profession as director of practice for the Academy of Geriatric Physical Therapy and additionally as the Chair of the Practice Committee for the Home Health Section of the APTA. In this capacity, he led the development of the Providing Physical Therapy in the Home handbook and other resources such as home health student roadmap and toolkit and the home health section’s objective test toolbox.

Dr. Emily Paslay graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, TX with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2009. She became a board-certified Orthopedic Specialist in 2013. She is an Assistant Professor at the University of North Texas Health Sciences Center in the Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program where she is the course director for Therapeutic Exercise I and Therapeutic Interventions II in year one and Evidence Based Practice IV in year two as well as a course instructor for Musculoskeletal I and II and Cardiovascular-Pulmonary in year two. Justin is the Director of Rehab at Aspire Hospital Center for Rehab in Huntsville, TX. He received his bachelors in Exercise Science from Sam Houston State University in 2008 and went on to receive his doctorate in physical therapy from the University of St Augustine in San Diego in 2013. Dr. Cristobal Maya grew up in the NYC metroplex developing a passion for sports, books, and world travel. He received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Ithaca College in 2017. While in undergrad he played 5 years of collegiate baseball. After graduation, he became a member of the inaugural DPT class at the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor and would later graduate in December of 2017. He has always had a passion for combining the world of rehabilitation and strength and conditioning. In the Spring of 2016, Dr. Ekery became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. He is scheduled to complete the Evidence In Motion Sports Certification in September 2019 and aspires to sit for the SCS exam once reaching the requirements to become a Board Certified Sports Specialist.

Dr. Jacob Rash is a physical therapist in a rural, outpatient orthopedic clinic in Corsicana, TX. He earned his Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology from Sam Houston State University in May 2008 after beginning his college education at Texas A&M University. He went on to earn his Associates of Applied Science in Physical Therapist Assistant from Mclennan Community College in Waco in 2012. He worked at Lott Physical Therapy in Corsicana from 2012-2015 as a Physical Therapist Assistant. He returned to school in 2015 and earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in 2017. Dr. Trisha Rivera graduated from UT Southwestern in 2010 and began working as a physical therapist in the acute care setting at Texas Health Resources Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. In 2016, she moved to the San Antonio area and currently works at University Hospital as the PPS Coordinator of Reeves Rehabilitation and is an adjunct professor in the Physical Therapist Assistant program at St. Philip’s College. Dr. Rivera is a Certified Kinesiotape Practitioner and is a Six Sigma Green Belt with a strong interest in quality and process improvement within healthcare.
